Event Sponsorships
'Sponsorships' refers to financial support of the organization so it is able to bear the cost of conducting the awareness events.
There are two types of sponsorships.
A. Fundraising Sponsorship
These are the small donations received through the "Sponsor Sheet" given to participants in an Ecorun event. For example, to participate in a running event, the runner has to register online a number of weeks ahead of the run. The runner will also download a sponsor sheet from the event page elsewhere on this web site. The sheet is used by the participant to raise at least the minimum amount each participant is required to raise in cash and submit on the event day. For instance, the minimum may be 500 rupees. The amounts raised by the participants are used to pay for conducting the event. This includes the Tee shirt given at no cost to the participants to wear for the event. In the example here, the participant collects the 500 rupees from, say, 10 people of his/her acquaintance - co-workers, friends, neighbors, and relatives.
The benefit to a donor listed in a Sponsor Sheet is the satisfaction of supporting the cause as well as that of backing an event participant they know.
B. Corporate Sponsorship of an event
Corporate sponsors provide the main financial support of events. The main benefit to the sponsor is the increased public perception of the brand as eco-friendly or eco-supportive. Therefore, corporate sponsors can not be organizations whose activities - for instance, manufacturing asbestos roofing sheets - directly or indirectly affect ecology or environment adversely.
